"I was lamely working out on stationary bike when Forest approached me and offered me a free training session. Why not? It was the beginning of a journey that has literally changed my daily living.
I was a diabetic for thirty seven years. I had eye problems, severe neuropathy in both feet, with 14 surgeries on my left foot and 3 on my right. I ended up in dialysis 9 years ago, and was saved by my sister-in-law who donated her kidney to me. I felt so good I listed for a pancreas transplant which happened 4 months after my kidney surgery. Hallelujah!
But in my "new" life I contracted Histoplasmosis on a trip to Costa Rica. It is a fungus which lives in the bone marrow. I ended up at UCD, two months in intensive care and 2 months learning to sit, walk, talk, even stand w/o weaving and hanging on to things. All those normal daily activities that are so simple for most people became mountains for me to climb.
So when Forest came along I was incredibly grateful to be alive but physically a MESS! I am almost 6' tall and at that time weighed a buck twenty four. Forest had a lot of patience. We started out with no weights, concentrating on balance, core training and using almost all free weight exercises. Forest is very innovative. If I can't do something he has set up, he thinks of something else. He is very creative and we do different exercises to get the same results. He is firm, but kind and always smiles while I am in pain, cause he makes get through the exercise. I can't get away with anything.
I think Forest is an exceptional trainer. I am so glad I said yes to that first training session 7 months ago, for I now use those abs and glutes and they work to balance me. Who knew? I will never be "normal", but with Forest's help, the great progress I have made and the Anytime Fitness Gym, I have gained confidence to keep moving. "Because every day is a Christmas present, open it up and enjoy...."
Thanks again for sharing, Suzanne. If you'd like to find out more about getting involved in group or personal training with Forest, please fill out the contact form on the sidebar to your right and I'll be in contact in the next 24 hours!
